Smart Bites for Baby: 300 Easy to Make, Easy to Love Meals That Boost Your Baby and Toddler's Brain

Author(s): Mika Shino

Babies

This is a unique baby & toddler food cookbook: kid-friendly meals that build the growing brain and stimulate healthy cognitive development. Every parent knows just how hard it is to get a ten-year-old to eat their peas and carrots. With obesity on the rise how can you help your child commit to a healthy lifestyle? The answer is simple: start young. This cookbook offers a brand new and totally original approach to cooking for babies and toddlers. Even though we know that babies learn primarily through their senses, many are eating mushy food from a jar - and this at a time when they are experiencing exponential brain growth and an openness to trying new things unlike any other period in their lives. In "Smart Bltes for Baby", Mika Shino, a mother and trained chef, looks at food as a source of learning, stimulation and fun. Even your average macaroni cheese dish can be altered to provide maximum nutrition by choosing fresh ingredients like buckwheat pasta, grated vegetables, and ground flaxseed. Not only that, it expands a baby's palate by encouraging him to appreciate a diversity of flavors and textures. This cookbook includes over a hundred recipes made with ingredients proven to stimulate the development of the brain: fish, nuts, berries, soy, sesame, and more. The recipes draw on world flavors that engage the senses and are simple to prepare. They've been tested and kids love them!
