Masters of Rock Guitar

Author(s): Ernesto Assante

Music

Try to imagine a world with no guitars. Neither blues, nor flamenco or rock. The guitar has always been a protagonist of extraordinary pages of jazz history, it was the queen of folk and blues, and in its electric embodiment, it was the basic stone of rock 'n' roll. Here, most of all, we want to celebrate the electric guitar myth and legend, that extraordinary instrument that gave voice to the youth from all over the world, that turned into a key to open the doors of sensation, creativity and of life itself. Rock guitar, in conclusion, is a wonderful musical instrument that lived many years from the forties to today. Lots of figures have contributed to this history: legendary musicians as Chuck Berry, B.B King, Frank Zappa, Jimmy Page, Syd Barret, David Gilmour, George Harrison, Brian May, Eric Clapton, Martin Barre, Carlos Santana, Mark Knopfler, Ben Harper above all Jimi Hendrix. This volume is devoted to guitars and to the rockstars who have made use of them.
