All the Wild Wonders: Poems of Our Earth

Author(s): Wendy Cooling

Poetry

In this celebration of our Earth, distinguished anthologist Wendy Cooling has chosen poems to make children look, think, and ask questions. Why are trees so important? How are motorways damaging our countryside? What can we do about rubbish? What can we do to protect our Earth for the future? Strong, colourful illustrations and a lavish new imitlin cover make this a gift book with a difference. Poets include Grace Nicholls, Thomas Hardy, Benjamin Zephaniah, Alfred Lord Tennyson and other poets from all over the world.

Product Information

'An inspiring poetry collection which will encourage children to take interest in and relish the nature they see all around them and to consider the future of the earth.' Woman's Way All together this is a great selection, great for casual or purposeful reading, great as a teaching resource, great as inspiration for further efforts. School Librarian It is a strong collection and Piet Grobler's watercolour illustrations beautifully complement the poems. Carousel Poems that span the globe encouraging all readers to look at the good and the bad aspects of it make this a rich and original anthology. Twinning the themes of the wonders of the world and the horrors of how we despoil it means that the poems are both celebratory and angry. That leads to an interesting contradiction of styles and moods. Piet Grobler's vibrant illustrations bring the feel of different countries to life. -- Julia Eccleshare Love Reading - Book of the Month
