Description

Did you feel scared on your first day of school? Have you ever felt nervous talking in class? How did you feel? Did your heart beat really fast? Read about Omar Chole, and what they did when they felt scared. Each book focuses on a different emotion, looking at why children may feel a certain way and how they can deal with their feelings. Every title features two stories, each told from a child's point of view, which involve common scenarios or situations. For example, the main characters interact with each other through the series, sharing experiences that readers can easily relate too. These sensitive stories reassure young readers and provide them with a vocabulary which helps them to express and understand their feelings as they grow up and encounter different situations. 'Story words' in each book explain words simply and gently. Beautiful, fun illustrations from an award winning illustrator, plus supporting text for parents and teachers ensure children get the most from the books.

Reviews

These books are great for class and nursery settings to encourage children to think about their feelings and to encourage them to discuss things that have made them felt sad or angry, helping them to understand their own feelings and learn how to describe that feeling with a friend or adult carer. Older KS1 children could follow this up with short poems about sadness or anger (following the pattern of a poem in the book) and also use each story for simple story sequencing, or to act out the story Reading Zone Sensitively told, and beautifully illustrated by rising star, Holly Sterling, this series is ideal for use in early years settings as well as families where there are young children Red Reading Hub It's often hard to explain to the children about how emotions can suddenly take over. These books are a lovely way to talk about their feelings and emotions and he has been keen to read the angry one a couple of times this week. The illustrations are great and do a fab job of conveying the emotions. Let Them Be Small Written with great empathy, children will really appreciate the approach, which will help them to understand and hence to cope with their emotions... The series is really well thought out, with appropriate stories plus plenty of additional material to help teachers and parents he words they need to express their feelings. Parents in Touch
